Hopefully lots of people are feeling all awesome like I am because of Canada winning the hockey game last night and they come out and buy lots of art! Yeah!

I'm a Canadian artist. If it's quiet here, it's because I'm in the studio, if not, it's because I _should_ be in the studio and I'm procrastinating. My website with all the artwork. Art Expo update
We're all here in the marshalling yard ready to load in:
The 7:30 people are still waiting to go in, and it's now 9am - if we're all 2 hours late getting in setting up on time is going to be really dicey. Wow, this is going to be hairy! A couple of hundred anxious artists with power tools all running around in a frantic panic. It's a wonder that this show gets set up every year; other shows give you a full day to load in and set up.
I'm scheduled for 9, so it looks like I'm going to sit here for another couple of hours. Here's my trailer and car all loaded up:
Once I drive in I'll have half an hour to dump that in my booth, then I'll park the car and trailer somewhere or other and have hopefully enough time to get the booth up and looking awesome by 6pm.
Haha, I just realized that even if I do get it all set up, I'll have to be able to talk to people with some semblance of coherence. The reason that's funny is because that 's not a strong point for me on a good day, and once I'm tired and frazzled from setting up a show I'm usually a rambling idiot who makes no sense whatsoever. Just so you're forewarned, haha.

Art Expo notes
I know I said I was frantic in a previous post, and I usually am at this point before a show, but this time I've had far fewer late nights, and aside from my personal stuff, it's basically all packed up! I'm not sure how that happened. I'm totally anxious that there's something major I've forgotten that'll keep me up until 3, but whatever it is, I can't think of it. Yet.
Now all I have to do is go get the trailer after I'm done work and load it all in, and then drive it all to Toronto. Hopefully the snow isn't as bad as they're forecasting.

Art expo prep
Notes from a frantic (art show prep)
It feels just a little crazy. Lots to do and not much time to do it. Yesterday was spent running around town getting all the bits I need for my expanded booth and getting some frames for the new paintings, and then getting ready for a studio visit by an Ottawa based customer who wanted to have a look at the new paintings before they all disappear to Toronto. Smart move on her part.
Today I'm photographing the new paintings, putting the new panels together, going to get the stuff I forgot yesterday, and putting the new ones into their frames. Scanning the mini paintings, applying for the summer outdoor shows, and some other stuff. phew.
Tomorrow I have to get it all packed up so it can be loaded into the trailer on Tuesday after I finish my day job work.
Also, I can't remember if I've posted this here or just to my email list: I have a good supply of free tickets for opening night of the Art Expo, so email me your mailing address if you'd like to go and I'll mail them out on Monday.

Last studio photo before Art Expo
Shit, I had just tapped in a long post well long for an iPhone, and the stupid screen froze up and now it's gone. Damn. Anyway here's the last studio pic before the show. My todo list is long, my brain is good'n mushy, so any subsequent posts will probably make no sense. Well, even less than before.

Mini-paintings on the go
I'm finally getting to some mini-paintings:
I'm not going to be able to do nearly as many as I'd hoped, which is too bad because they're always popular. I guess i'm always a little too optimistic with getting ready for a show and then life comes along and throws a box of wrenches at me.
Every. Friggin. time.
;)

Friday studio photos
Here they are at the next phase with the underpainting done - I'm starting to get a little frantic with the Art Expo in only 3 weeks; I need to get these two done, and then do a bunch of mini-paintings and a long list of logistical things! As always, I never know how much of it I'm going to get done - that's part of the adventure, and I guess that's why I'm always so tempted to just leave the paintings at this stage.

Sneak Peek - finished hockey piece
Here's the painting all finished. I'd like to post a higher res photo, but I haven't figured out how to do that from my iPhone yet. For some reason my blogging app shrinks it down. Ah well, I'm still quite happy that it's so much faster to blog straight from the studio, rather than taking the pic with the nikon, going down to the office, transferring it to the PC, photoshopping it, and then posting it up. (And getting distracted and sidetracked somewhere along the way.)
I'm also happy about the ability to blog straight from the studio because I doubt I'll have time to post the full size photos of any of the paintings that I'm going to finish between now and the show, so these sneak peeks will at least allow me to share some of the work with everyone.
