Here's my painting `Passers by' on the cover of the Canadian Journal of Rural Medicine:
I just received my copies in the mail, and it`s really nice to see it in print. Very cool. They've put some very good and well known artists on their covers in the past, so I'm honoured to have one of my paintings included. Thanks CJRM!
cheers,
Marcel
I'm a Canadian artist. If it's quiet here, it's because I'm in the studio, if not, it's because I _should_ be in the studio and I'm procrastinating. My website with all the artwork. Paintings to re-appear in Toronto
Hey Everybody, I'd like to announce that I will be having a show in Toronto along with Maggie Broda for the month of march. I'm currently working on a brand new painting for this show. (No pressure on that painting. Ha. ha. ... eep.)
The opening is set for Saturday March 1. 2-4pm. I'm not sure yet if I'll be able to attend, but if you're in Toronto, you'll be able to check out some of my recent paintings. And the new one, if it turns out and I don't burn it first.
You can follow me via @marcel_g on twitter or via marcel-g-art.tumblr.com for more updates, and even better, you can sign up for my mailing list, which I use to occasionally spam people's inboxes with announcements about upcoming shows.
cheers,
marcel

Scratch them out - new digital painting
1st of a series of digital paintings I'm embarking on. Not sure where this series is going to go or if it'll be worth the effort, but what the hell, I have a day job, so I can indulge in some experimentation now and then.

Starting a new digital painting series
This is a doodling around draft image, and as you can see, I'm still learning this medium. And hoo boy do I have a long way to go. But I have a series of illustrations in my head that I really want to do, so I think it'll be worth it to spend the time to develop a new style to do them in.
cheers,

New paintings from my Toronto show now online
on my website. I've collected the paintings in the show under the following link: Elaine Fleck Gallery - November 2013
The show is still up for another week or so in case you're in Toronto and would like to go see the paintings in person. The paintings do look so much better in person than they do online.
When my friends came to the opening they were all commenting about how they loved the texture in the paintings and how they were surprised to see it because it doesn't show up in the online photos. I'm not sure how to capture the texture better, but maybe it's something I'll have to work on.
